I’m very comfortable working at The Oaks. The environment here is relaxed, upbeat and positive. I’m learning a lot of things.

I’ve been a part of the nursing team at The Lutheran Home for eleven years. I enjoy working with residents in a smaller environment. It allows us to know the residents and families better.

I was enrolled in the Bedford/ Fulton Head Start program through ALSM in 1996. I attended classes at the Everett site and received home-visits. Head Start provided an opportunity for me to receive early childhood education before entering the Northern Bedford district pre-school. Head Start allowed me to make friends with the other children in the classroom. One of the friends I made in Head Start, I am still close friends with to this day. When I talk to my mom about my Head Start days, she often talks about Miss Melody. Miss Melody empowered my mom to get her driver’s license. My mom was very involved in the program by participating in fundraisers and volunteering in the classroom. Little did I know that things would come full circle. After completing my master’s degree in special education, I applied for a position ALSM, and I have been working here ever since. I feel very honored about working for this organization and for the Head Start program because I was once enrolled in Head Start.

I’m very lucky that I get to have a job that I like this much!

I enjoy working at The Lutheran Home because I feel that I am helping people. I also have become friends with people that I work with.

I first was introduced to ALSM as a child enrolled in the Head Start program. My oldest son actually attended the same Head Start classroom as me. I started working for Head Start nine years ago as a bus attendant. The Head Start program encourages me. I went back to school. For the past three years, I’ve been working as a program assistant. My youngest son now attends Growing Years. I love that he is enrolled there. The children and families come first in all of the ALSM children’s services programs. I wouldn’t work anywhere else.
